School Rugby Tours

Rugby is the most popular boys’ sport for overseas touring; this is mainly because of the popularity of the sport in UK schools and the timing of the rugby season, which lends itself very nicely to touring during the summer holidays. At the heart of a school rugby tour is a group of dedicated students, heading off on the trip of a lifetime, sharing these experiences with those they have taken to the field with for 5 or 6 years. Selection for these tours is often seen as a reward for commitment to the school combined with the usual sporting development achieved on such tours.

Rugby tours have long since been popular within the British school system and follow in the tradition of some of the Lions tours from the pre- professional era of the sport. The spirit of the game is very much alive worldwide and therefore, if you are touring with a rugby team, you really can take your pick from some of the world’s best destinations to visit.

Roddy Deans, Merchiston Castle, Rugby Tour South Africa – August 2018

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSJust letting you know the tour was first class from start to finish. Our planning certainly made the tour very easy. Best tour I have been on. Thank you very much for all your hard work

RICK SELLERS, Bristol Grammar School, Rugby & Hockey Tour to Sri Lanka & Malaysia, July 2018

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSCarrie this was an excellent trip and I would like to thank you on behalf of the school and the 82 people that travelled for creating a busy, challenging, adventurous and life changing experience. I could not fault the level of care and attention that had been exercised to make the trip successful and I have no doubt that it will have enriched the lives of the students who were fortunate enough to be tour. Thank you- a perfect way for me to sign off.”.

MARK BARRINGTON – Cathedral School, Football, Rugby, Netball & Hockey tour to Belfast, March 2018

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSA very professional and supportive experience, all requests listened to and acted upon with plenty of local knowledge to give the pupils the most memorable experience. We will run this tour on annual basis. The itinerary was excellent” .

JAMES CLARK – Director of Sport, The Leys School Rugby Tour to Belfast – March 2018

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSDavid and Living With The Lions put together an outstanding UK based short tour package to Belfast which suited our every need. The matches were evenly matched, the activities were fun and educational and the renowned Irish hosting was at its brilliant best. I would strongly recommend this type of tour for both clubs and schools.” .

GEORGE SWINBURNE, Northcote Lodge Prep School Rugby Tour to Leicester, January 2018

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSThe Nothcote Lodge sports department have being using the services of “Living With The Lions” for a number of years now and we can honestly say we could not of had a better service through the company. With their attention to detail forward thinking planning and the friendly nature of their staff, it makes the decision all too easy to invest with LWTL. The feedback we received from parents as well as the boys because of the full nature of the itinerary and the enjoyment the pupils had from each and every activity, was overwhelming. The itinerary always works like clockwork with each and every activity planned to the minute with flexibility in the program, if needed. Our last tour 3 day sports tour we attended, 3 professional sport matches (football, rugby and basketball), the pupils played 2 matches against local opposition, 1 training session organised with a professional rugby team and the pupils participated in 1 fun activity. The big headlining events are fantastic and certainly big marketing headlines for the tour however it was the small attention to detail that continues to impress me about LWTL tours. All small details that only organisers would think of but LWTL think of ways to make not only the pupils tour a memorable experience but the teachers too. Overall, I couldn’t recommend Living With The lions enough. When it comes to planning tours, it’s a very easy choice as to what company we choose to give our pupils the best experience. .

JONATHAN THOMAS – Chipping Norton School, Hockey, Netball & Rugby tour to South Africa, July 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSOnce again LWTL provided us with an outstanding tour at a great price. It included everything we requested, such as billeting and a wide range of excursions. The big advantage is that they really know our school and tailor our tour accordingly, keeping us up to date every step of the way. The ease of booking and dealing with only 1 or 2 individuals makes it an easy decision to book with LWTL..

LEIGH DOUGHTY – Carhill High School, Football, Netball & Rugby tour to South Africa, July 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSCarr Hill PE decided to use LWTL Sports Tours due to developing a fantastic relationship with their Sales Manager, Steve Badham. Steve, alongside Owen Grant, organised a truly unforgettable trip to South Africa for the 38 tourists. The attention to detail LWTL put into ensuring the tour is tailor-made for our needs was brilliant. We certainly were not an ordinary tour. We took a group of dancers, footballers, netballers, rugby players and volunteers to SA! After a lot of fine tuning the team at LWTL were able to produce a superb itinerary full of excursions, fixtures, community work and billets. The students had a fantastic time with many wanting to go back in 2020 (when the school are hoping to tour South Africa again). I cannot thank Steve and Owen enough for their time and dedication to ensuring that every inch of the tour was a success. Carr Hill High School highly recommend LWTL and have already passed their details onto a number of schools who have contacted us having seen the amazing time we had via social media..

JOHN TIDBALL – KES Bath Rugby and Netball tour to SA, July 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSThis is the 4th Tour that KES Bath have made to South Africa, and the 2017 tour proved to be the most complete, balanced and successful tour that we have had, fullfilling our expectations for fixtures, logistics, hosting, accommodation, and sightseeing. Our pupils had an outstanding and rewarding experience!.

LIAM ST JOHN – The Perse School, South Africa July 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSExcellent, incredibly happy with the tour and how it ran. Really impressed once again with the quality of after-sales care from the LWTL team who dealt with queries quickly and efficiently throughout the planning process and on tour. That kind of care really is worth its weight in gold when running a school tour..

CHRIS JOHNSON – King Edward’s School Birmingham Rugby & Hockey Tour to India & Sri Lanka July 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSWe had a wonderful time and will be recommending the tour and LWTL to other schools on our circuit. The LWTL representatives in Sri Lanka were outstanding and could not have been more helpful they made the tour for us! The Indian fixtures were wonderful and the hosts couldn’t have done more to make the fixtures run smoothly or help us in any way. They were so pleased to be playing us and are desperate for more school rugby tours. For a school on our circuit and level (mid range ability) the matches were competitive and very worthwhile..

CRAIG RICHARDS – Newquay Tretherras School on their Rugby Tour to Ireland in April 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSA fantistically well organised trip. Our students had a wonderful time, were treated to some superb hospitiality and the rugby fixtures were excellent. The excursions including the gaelic football at Croke Park gave us a real insight to sport in Ireland and we would thoroughly recommend a trip to there to any school or club..

RUSSELL MCCCLUSKEY, Head of Junior School PE at KCS Wimbledon, Gloucester Rugby January 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSAn excellent weekend! Fantastic communication!

CHRIS GIBBONS, Director of Sport at Northcote Lodge, Worcester Warriors January 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSReally happy with the services we were provided from start to finish, as soon as we stepped on to the coach we were looked after brilliantly and the basketball and Warriors game were a great a experience for the boys. Would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of doing a similar trip!

GARY MERCER, Kelvinside Academy School – Rugby Tour to Bath, January 2017

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSA great 3 days in Bath a central location of the YMCA was ideal for our age group where we had no transport to deal with all shops / ammenties accessable. Personally I cannot think of any improvements to the tour as it was well thought out ie trips away from Bath (Farleigh House and on the final day to play Chew Valley RFC in a fixture close to Bristol Airport.

HAYLEY DOBSON, Royal Latin School Rugby & Hockey tour to Spain, October 2016

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSWe had a great time on tour, it was fantastic. The location of the hotel was ideal as there was access to a supermarket, the beach and other amenities. Thanks to you and your team for organising such a great tour.

RODDY DEANS, Merchiston Castle Rugby Tour to New Zealand, July/August 2016

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSOur tour to New Zealand was one in which the squad enjoyed immensely and this is in no small part down to the excellent organisational skills of the people at Living With The Lions.

SIMON VINCENT, Tour Leader, Bryanston School Rugby Tour to Canada – July 2016

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSWe all had a great tour and thoroughly enjoyed all the activities laid on. As it turned out there was a nice pace to the tour and the break at the Eco lodge came at a great time. Particularly good from the boys’ point of view were the training sessions at the Molson Stadium and the Tim Horton Stadium, which made a real impact.

CHRIS McCAREY – Belfast Royal Academy, South Africa Rugby Tour, July 2015

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSThe tour was fantastic!! The best I have been on, rugby activities, organisation etc. I would like to thank you once again for all your efforts and please pass on my gratitude to Sue who was also excellent.

MARK HANSLIP – St Edwards School Oxford, Australia Rugby & Hockey Tour, July 2015

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSAll the feedback we have had has been extremely positive. I cannot thank you enough for putting together this tour, which I think is very good value for money and offers the pupils so much to see and do. Thank you for your time, expertise and support in putting together our tour. Overall an amazing and wonderful once in a life time experience.

JAMES CLARK – KCS Wimbledon Rugby to Dubai – Feb 2015.

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSThe tour was outstanding!!! We had a great time. Thank you

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSThat was quite simply one of the best sports tours I have been on in 13 years. I have been on some slick and polished tours over the years, but this tour was the first one I have been on where the team has felt properly welcomed… The team were fantastic and in particular knew what we wanted from the tour and provided this. The hotel was fantastic, especially the location and there was not one part of the whole tour I would change when we return in 2016.’

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSEverything went really well…. the organisation from start to finish was first rate and all went really smoothly.. ‘

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSSA was AMAZING, such a great itinerary; kids, staff and parents had such an unforgettable experience and much of that is down to your organisation, so thank you!’

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSInitial contact great and Carrie has been outstanding during the lead up to the tour…LWTL were excellent and highly recommended.’

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSThe tour structure was excellent and with a few tweaks would have been outstanding. However the fixtures, hosting, weather all added to this and contributed to this being one of the most successful large co-ed tours I have been involved with during my time at KES.’

quotemarks2 - SCHOOL RUGBY TOURSExtremely impressed with the level of organisation prior and during the tour. Everything was sorted out well in advance and communicated with us at every step – made me feel at ease with the tour.’
