With friendly hosts and a competitive match at every level, New Zealand is a real highlight on the touring calendar. The Kiwis love their sport and you would struggle to find better hospitality offered to our touring sides.
Most schools play rugby, cricket, hockey and netball and the destination lends itself beautifully to a combined sports tour. It is also worth noting that women’s sport in particular is highly regarded with netball regularly aired on national television and the top players being household names. The All Blacks are far more than a rugby team, for most Kiwis they represent everything about their nation and are held almost in reverie by the majority of the population.
The breathtaking beauty of New Zealand’s South Island will long have a place in your heart after the tour is over and the adrenaline activities offered such as bungee jumping, white water rafting, the Shotover Jet and zorbing give you the chance to do something completely out of the ordinary. Add to that the rich cultural Maori heritage, hot natural spas, geysers & bubbling mud pools of the North Island and you will see why there is so much to see and do.
Why not take some time to consider a stopover with a final fixture in Fiji or the Cook Islands on your way home.
RODDY DEANS, Merchiston Castle Rugby Tour to New Zealand, July/August 2016
Our tour to New Zealand was one in which the squad enjoyed immensely and this is in no small part down to the excellent organisational skills of the people at Living With The Lions.
