Barring any playing commitments Paul will be joining LWTL in Australia in 2010 for the 5th test in Sydney. He made his first class debut in 1989 with Leicestershire and won two championship titles with them in 1996 & 1998. Leaving in 2000 to play for Kent, he returned to Leicestershire in 2003 and became the club captain in August 2007.Born 21 October 1970, the 38 year old wicket keeper and left-handed batsmen is known for his energy and enthusiasm behind the stumps along with his inventive batting technique. He is one of the best players of the reverse sweep in the county game (and possibly world cricket) and he is one of the few keepers to leave the stumps and dive in front of the ball when opposing batsmen attempt the reverse stroke. His drive for international recognition was rewarded when he was drafted into the England one-day side in Australia in 2006-07 and he did well enough to hold on to his place for the World Cup immediately afterwards. |
