NEW ZEALAND SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1 – AUCKLAND
Arrive Auckland international airpot where you will be met and transferred to your hotel
for two nights accomodation. This afternoon take a boat trip around Auckland
harbour,  followed by  a trip up the  Sky Tower for fantastic views of the harbour & ‘City of
Sails’ followed by a  sumptuous buffet in the Observatory Restaurant.

Day 2 – AUCKLAND
Morning free before transferring out to your first match in New Zealand.
Match day 1 v local school/club. Aftermatch function

Day 3 –HAMILTON
This morning depart Auckland for your journey south to Hamilton. The journey takes you
through the farming heartland of the north island through scenery made famous in the
Lord of the Rings Trilogy. After lunch join your host school for a traditional Maori welcome
before departing for a two night stay with your host family.

DAY 4 – HAMILTON
Match day 2 v local school/club. Aftermatch function

DAY 5 – ROTORUA
This morning bid farewell to your hosts and continue on to Rotorua which is packed with
fun, Maori culture and sightseeing!  Visit Wai-o-Tapo thermal wonderland for a
guided tour through the world famous bubbling mud pools and geysers before checking
in to your hotel for an overnight stay. Late afternoon we recommend a long soak in
the Hot Pools on the edge of Lake Rotorua followed by a Maori Cultural Hangi and Show.
An unforgettable experience giving an insight into Maori culture to include a fabulous
Hangi dinner.

DAY 6 – TAUPO
This morning visit Agrodome for a farm tour and sheep show to experience some of New Zealand’s farming culture, followed by some adrenaline activities such as Bungy or Zorbing. The adventures continue in the afternoon with a stop at the exhilarating Huka Falls for a white water jet boat ride, before checking in to your hotel on the edge of the spectacular Lake Taupo for an overnight stay.

DAY 7 – WELLINGTON
A full day spent travelling south to the compact capital city of New Zealand.  The journey will take you through Palmerston North, a real kiwi rugby town and home to the New Zealand Rugby Museum. On arrival check into your central hotel for two nights.

DAY 8 – WELLINGTON
Morning at leisure to stroll into town along the picturesque harbourside and take the cable car up to the Botanic Garden for superb views across the city and, on a good day, see the South Island beckoning across the Cook Straits.
Match day 3 v local school/club. Aftermatch function

DAY 9 - NELSON
Bid farewell to the North Island and take the 3 hr 10 min ferry journey across the Cook
Straits to Picton. The scenery coming into Picton is spectacular and dolphins are often
seen swimming alongside the ferry. On arrival transfer to Nelson, home to many famous
wines and known for its temperate climate. Two nights in billets with local families.

DAY 10 – NELSON
Spend the morning exploring the magnificent beaches, mountains, forests and lakes, of the region.
Match day 4 v local school/club. Aftermatch function

DAY 11 – KAIKOURA
A real tour highlight. This morning depart Nelson and travel south to the beautiful coastal
town of Kaikoura.  After lunch depart on an afternoon’s Whale Watch to spot Giant
Sperm whale, Dusky Dolphins, seabirds and fur Seals. Overnight accommodation in
Kaikoura.  

DAY 12 – CHRISTCHURCH
This morning continue your journey south to Christchurch. The City feels very British and on
arrival take a quick tour round the centre on the free tram trip.
Afternoon free to relax or maybe complete a  light training session.

DAY 13 – CHRISTCHURCH
Morning at leisure to explore the city. Climb to the top of the Cathedral or visit the
Botanical Gardens in Hagley Park.
Match day 5 v local school/club. Aftermatch function

DAY 14 - CHRISTCHURCH
Check out of the hotel this morning and visit the world famous Antarctic Centre for
presentation about Antarctica and penguins followed by a Hagglund ride, which simulates riding across the icepacks of Antarctica.
This afternoon transfer out to the airport for your flight back to the UK.

OPTIONS TO EXTEND TRIP DOWN TO QUEENSTOWN FOR A FEW NIGHTS OR STOP OFF IN FIJI,
THE COOK ISLAND OR LA ON THE WAY HOME.
