Champions League postponed to October 2009
January 13, 2009
The Champions League tournament that was due to take place in India in December 2008 has been pushed back to October 2009. It was suppose to start on 3rd December 2008. However, due to terrorist attacks on Mumbai, the authorities were forced to reschedule the entire tournament.
Following a win in the domestic Twenty20 Cup last summer, Middlesex were due to be the only side representing England. However, appearance will now be based on the 2009 Twenty20 performance of English counties.
The county’s chief executive, Vinny Codrington, said that they had a chance this year which has now gone. Nashua Dolphins were taking part representing South Africa. From India, sides Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were the participants. From Australia, West Australia Warriors and Victoria Bushrangers were due to appear and Sialkot Stallions were representing Pakistan.
Codrington added that it was very disappointing and that the players were really looking forward to the tournament.
